The Thursday night premiere of Katy Perry's "E.T." video with Kanye West on MTV and MTV.com is getting closer and closer. Until then, a 60-second teaser of the futuristic, otherworldly clip should tide fans over.
The sneak peek shows Perry floating and spinning somewhere in outer space, decked out in an ethereal and dazzling-white ensemble. She looks like an angelic alien princess, complete with brightly colored makeup and cat-eye contact lenses. The footage of Perry singing is cut with what looks like footage from Animal Planet or National Geographic, showing big cats hunting game.
The remaining 30 seconds show Perry exploring the desolate terrain in an unknown land. She is wearing another highly complex and stylized outfit, a long silky train billowing in the wind. This time, she looks part femme fatale, part warrior goddess, with a little Lara Croft from "Tomb Raider" thrown in. Perry approaches what looks like a broken robot, wiping dust from its eyes. She is then shown reaching down to place her hand over the device's heart, which lights up at her touch.
At this point it's safe to say that this is Perry's most complex, stylized and out-there video production yet. The new clip premieres online at noon Thursday on MTV.com, VH1.com and LogoTV.com. Then, "MTV First: Katy Perry's 'E.T.' " will bow on air at 7:53 p.m. ET before tossing to an MTV.com live stream, featuring MTV News correspondent Sway's exclusive chat with Perry, an interview with director Floria Sigismondi and reaction from Perry's fans.

We lost another of Elvis? old musical buddies this week. Ferlin Husky was a successful country singer based in Memphis who scored two huge cross-over pop hits ?Gone? and ?On the Wings of a Dove.? He met Elvis in 1955 when the young swivel-hipped singer was added to several packaged tours throughout Mississippi and the south.

In addition to becoming Elvis? friend, Ferlin Husky also got to know Presley's parents, Vernon and Gladys. When Elvis was drafted in the late 1950s, he continued to correspond with Husky while serving with the U.S. Army in Germany.

On the occasion of Ferlin Husky?s death, it is appropriate to retell a story about him and Elvis? passing. In August of 1977, Husky had heart surgery in Minneapolis. When he regained consciousness, he was read a list of the people who had left messages wishing him a speedy recovery. One of these people was Vernon Presley.
Husky once recalled, "I don't remember the date of the surgery, but I will never forget date they took the stitches out. I was laying there on the table and there was small, black and white television monitor up on the wall. All of the sudden they flashed a news bulletin on the screen. Elvis had died. It was Aug. 16, 1977, the day I got the stitches out."
"You don't know how I felt. He was a good friend and a good person. It really took something out of me."

As the people of Japan continue to struggle with recovering from the nation's devastating earthquake and tsunami, some artists are being forced to cancel their tour dates in the nation. Ke$ha released a statement on Monday announcing that she would have to postpone her upcoming dates in Japan.
"My heart is with Japan right now through this disaster and these hardships," the singer wrote on her website. "I genuinely don't think right now would be appropriate timing for me to perform in Japan given the content and the spirit of my show, which is all about feeling exuberant, rowdy, and wild. ... I plan to bring my party there and to that part of the world when we are all ready to dance and Get $leazy together again. In the meantime I am going to do everything I can to help relief efforts and I encourage everyone in the world to do the same."
In the meantime, Ke$ha has a string of North American dates kicking off on April 1 with a show in Clarion, Pennsylvania, and running through early May.
According to Billboard, the promoter of the scotched Japanese tour, Creativeman Productions, also announced that it would be canceling a pair of its annual spring festivals. The Springgroove, an R&B, soul and hip-hop festival scheduled for April 2 near Tokyo and April 3 in Osaka, would have featured Nelly and Flo Rida, among others. Also called off was then annual hardcore Punkspring festival on April 1 and 2 in Osaka and Nagoya with headliners Good Charlotte and Hoobastank.
Ne-Yo continued with his planned dates in Japan over the weekend, performing a show in Nagoya on Friday and launching a charity initiative to help the people of the country. Called "Spread Love Through Music," the show included donation boxes at the concert to help those in need and the sale of a special wristband with proceeds going to earthquake relief. He plans to do the same during his shows on Tuesday (March 22) in Yokohama and Thursday in Tokyo. "You can absolutely spread love through music, and I think that's what's absolutely called for in this time of crisis," he said in a video on his website.
Also currently touring Japan is Cyndi Lauper, who is slated to play a show in Osaka on Tuesday and was in the country promoting her Memphis Blues album when the quake hit on March 11. She's been tweeting about her experience all along, and on Monday, she wrote about the healing power of music in the shattered country.
"Miss my family but have my music family and the warmth of the peeps I sing to. Tonight I will lose myself in the music and the rhythm," she wrote. Like Ne-Yo, she is asking fans to donate cash at the shows to earthquake relief and is donating all royalties from sales of her Blues album in Japan to the Japanese Red Cross.

It's Femme Fatale's arrival day and Britney Spears lovers couldn't be more excited to have the singer release her seventh studio album. When MTV News caught up with a number of her fans in San Francisco on Sunday, where Spears was taping her performance for "Good Morning America" — which airs Tuesday (March 29) — they revealed why they were looking forward to this new chapter in the pop star's dynamic career.
Camille Burgess explained, "We grew up listening to her songs and she will always be amazing." Her pal Stephanie Griffin added, "She's unstoppable!"
Sarah explained that Spears' spirit is why fans will certainly scoop up copies of the singer's latest, which features production from Dr. Luke and Max Martin, as well as collaborations with artists like will.i.am. "Britney's back but she sealed the deal ... everything!" she gushed. "She's feisty! She never gives up!"
Femme Fatale is a nonstop party album, complete with sexy beats, Britney's signature cooing singing style and lots of references to wanting to get busy with hot dudes. "I've heard a couple of songs and I have to say it's definitely amazing ... She knows what she's doing," Thomas explained. "And I think she's definitely going to have some surprises up her sleeve this next album ... The entertainment power she has, the way she flaunts herself onstage, she's not afraid to be different. It's inspiring to me."
Randi mirrors Thomas' feelings on why fans have stuck with the singer through her ups and downs and are just as excited as ever for this latest release. "Why do we love her? She's awesome," said Randi. "She's an influence on everything. No matter what she does she's always going to be sexy."

Lady Gaga might be a pop star, but that doesn’t mean Mother Monster can’t get a little bit country! In the wee hours of Friday morning, Gaga posted a link to a country version of her new hit single "Born This Way" on her official Twitter page.
The original song has drawn multiple comparisons to Madonna's 1989 hit "Express Yourself." Gaga's country version of the single has more of an acoustic sound, slowed down with harmonica played throughout. Mama Monster also added a lyric that says: "If I wanna make it contry, baby, it's OK! 'Cause I was born, I was born, I was born this way!" Listen for yourself below!
We're betting Gaga's new album, which she described in a recent Google interview as "avant-garde, techno rock," is a little bit country, a little bit pop, but mostly indescribable by a single genre!
The record, also titled Born This Way, drops in May.

On Monday, we learned the names of some of the stars set to appear on Songs For Japan, a compilation album to benefit the ongoing disaster relief efforts in the earthquake- and tsunami-ravaged nation. And on Friday (March 25), not only was the full roster of artists and songs revealed, but the album was made available for purchase on iTunes.
Lady Gaga, Eminem, Beyoncé, Madonna, the Kings of Leon and Katy Perry joined a list of already-announced artists like Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna on the album, which is available worldwide on the iTunes Store for $9.99. Proceeds from the sale of Songs for Japan will benefit the Japanese Red Cross Society.
All in all, 38 artists lent songs to the album, including legends like Bob Dylan, U2, Bruce Springsteen and the late John Lennon; country acts like Keith Urban and Lady Antebellum; rock artists like the Foo Fighters, R.E.M. and Bon Jovi; pop icons like Madonna and Pink; and top hitmakers like Bruno Mars and David Guetta.
All acts appearing on Songs for Japan — and their labels and music publishers — have waived their royalties and proceeds from the worldwide sales of the album to insure the Japanese Red Cross Society receives as much support as possible. The JRCS will use funds from the album to support its ongoing relief efforts and for eventual recovery assistance to the areas hardest hit by the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis. iTunes will also donate its proceeds from the album's worldwide sales to the benefit of the JRCS.

Britney Spears is fine with the numerous comparisons that have been made between her and Madonna over the course of her career. After all, she tried to mold herself after the star.
When asked who she tried to emulate when she first started out, Spears answered, "Madonna. No question. She is an amazing entertainer. Besides Madonna, I also admire Sarah Jessica Parker's career and her shoe collection," the singer told Out magazine. (Madonna is also set to have her own Out cover this month when both covers drop on March 29.)
She had equally kind words for her pop contemporaries. What does she think of Lady Gaga? "Unique." What about former pop rival Christina Aguilera? "Truly talented."
Over the course of her career, Spears has recorded a number of songs ranging from the awesome ("Toxic," "Slave 4 U") to the more forgettable ("Email My Heart"), but she has no regrets. "All of my songs are f---ing amazing," she told the magazine.
Spears displayed that same swagger when talking about her latest release. "I think Femme Fatale is my most upbeat and mature album yet. I collaborated with will.i.am. I am a huge fan of Black Eyed Peas, and I have always wanted to work with him. I also worked with a new up-and-coming artist from the L.A. area named Sabi. She raps on a song I love called '(Drop Dead) Beautiful.' "
While she loves all her own tracks, there's one recent radio smash that Spears wishes she had jumped on. Spears said that she would have loved to record Eminem and Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie."
The magazine also delved a bit further into the singer's personal life. When asked how she would feel if one of her sons turned out to be gay, she replied, "I love my boys no matter what." And when asked if the singer ever crushed on a female celebrity, she responded, "I only have eyes for men." Spears noted that everyone should have the right to marry, including gay people. "I think everyone should be treated equally."
Femme Fatale's release is one of Britney's major milestones for 2011. Another is the singer's 30th birthday, which she doesn't seem very worried about. "I'm excited to be out of my 20s," she said, before sharing that she's not against plastic surgery. "When it's time to pull and tuck, I'm sure I will consider it."

Producers promised to shake things up this year on "American Idol," but they were back to their predictable old tricks on Wednesday night (March 23), when the top 11 singers once again dipped into the Motown bag for some golden oldies. It was a critical week for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the fact that it would decide season 10's top 10, i.e., the handful of singers who will go out on the road with the "Idol" tour this summer.
Some (Thia, Lauren, Paul) stormed back after tough weeks, while others cemented their frontrunner status (Pia, Jacob) and a few tripped up (Stefano, Haley).
After squealing his way through Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" last week (and possibly scaring off his little-girl vote) Casey Abrams went for the big brass ring with Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." He did some of his now-signature growling, mixing Gaye's sweet soul with the swampy blues texture of the classic Creedence Clearwater Revival cover, pushing closer to the dreaded, white-soul belter territory blazed by "Idol" champ Taylor Hicks.
"I think you're the perfect entertainer," Steven Tyler enthused. "Perfect pitch and perfect mix of crazy-ass out-of-control ego and that's what makes an artist today." Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson agreed, saying that Abrams has already carved his own totally unique lane.
Trying to rebound from a rough week, the youngest singer in the contest, Thia Megia, 16, went with an uptempo number for once, Martha and the Vandellas' "Heatwave." Wearing a flirty, frilly pink skirt with a black bustier top, Megia showed an intriguing different side to her personality, a country/pop-ish tone with plenty of attitude, though she still sometimes comes off a bit cruise ship-y.
Lopez loved seeing Megia let loose for once and encouraged her to dig even deeper and try to connect with her lyrics more, by acting if necessary. Randy was psyched to see her take a chance after a string of same-y ballads.
With his gospel background, this should have been a slam-dunk week for Jacob Lusk. Choosing Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's legendary ballad "You're All I Need to Get By," Lusk leaned into the spare arrangement with a feathery contralto, hopping between his throaty and falsetto voices while putting on a divo-esque soul clinic of controlled runs.
Tyler couldn't contain himself, running up to hug Jacob and scream "hallelujah!" into the mic. The standing ovation inspired Jackson to say it was Lusk's best performance yet, praising his easy way of leaning into the chorus and totally controlling the song by knowing when to give it all and when to hold back. "You know what was wrong with that performance?" he said. "Nothing!"
The other 16-year-old, Lauren Alaina, dug into the Supremes' classic "You Keep Me Hangin' On." Opening in a single spotlight and transforming the intro into a slow, soul kiss, Alaina once again tapped into her precocious charms and flirted with Jackson and sashayed all around the judges' circle while singing a very good, sassy karaoke version of the disco-lite tune.
"I don't think you listen to anybody about anything and I like that about you," Tyler said to his favorite Aerosmith fan, while Lopez praised L.A.'s flowy zebra-striped, floor-length skirt and neck-rolling attitude.
Unlike Alaina, Stefano Langone grew up on Motown, though he chose not a classic, but the 1984 Lionel Richie schmaltz-fest "Hello." Warned not to over-sing it, Langone gave it an odd operatic lilt, turning the tune into a Michael Buble-style, light FM show tune.
She still thinks he's a cutie with a good voice, but Lopez said the one-time wild card missed the emotion in the song and failed to connect, instead looking like he was trying too hard to perform. Giving some of her most coherent, cogent advice of the season, the multi-hyphenate judge said it's critical for Langone to look at each song as an acting gig. "You sounded good, but there was no real connection," Randy concurred.
After hitting the bottom-three two weeks in a row, Haley Reinhart was hoping to avoid the walk of shame by singing Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' "You Really Got a Hold on Me." Her off-tempo, sissy strut version had the requisite soul mama growls and shouts, but the whole thing felt a bit awkward, shouty and Holiday Inn lounge.
After a rough start, Randy said Reinhart's Janis Joplin-esque growl and attitude brought it back around, giving them a glimpse of the singer they fell in love with. "I think you may have the most soulful voice of anybody in the competition," J.Lo said, then amending that to just include the girls' side.
The singer facing the biggest challenge of the week was bullfrog-voiced country crooner Scotty McCreery. Though he didn't grow up with Motown, he went with the Stevie Wonder version of "For Once in My Life." Shockingly, he sang it with a twangy Glen Campbell vibe accompanied by a wheezing harmonica, acoustic guitar and giddyaup brushed snare beat.
Tyler said Scotty Mac took a big chance and ripped it and Lopez agreed, saying Scotty made it his own, even if it wasn't his strongest vocal performance. Either way, it's those low notes he always throws in that continue to seal the deal for the judges and the audience.
Motown week was no problem for Pia Toscano, who's been singing the label's songs her whole life alongside her dad. She chose the lesser-known Stevie Wonder hit "All in Love is Fair," giving it the full diva treatment, complete with floor-length black gown, string section backing and a powerful series of crescendos delivered while standing nearly motionless behind the mic.
Once again, Lopez said the vocals, beauty and feeling were all there and said Pia could have a Celine Dion-like career, but she needs to add more dynamic stage moves into her repertoire. And, c'mon girl, Randy pleaded, we get that you can sing ballads, but mix it up a bit, will ya!
After a few seasons where singers frequently hid behind guitars and pianos, Paul McDonald busted out the first acoustic of the finals and did some picking and grinning on Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' titanic "Tracks of My Tears." Transforming the party tune into a down-home folk rocker, McDonald put on his best Rod Stewart rasp and remade the weeper as if he'd just written it before hitting the stage.
Randy wasn't sure where the song was going at first, but he loved the Stewart vibe and the soft, tender notes near the end. "Like Dylan, like Willie Nelson, your voice is that different," Tyler said as Lopez referred to McD as the complete package in search of the right producer.
She's already proved her sick dancing skills, so Naima Adedapo's decision to grab Martha and the Vandellas' good time ditty "Dancing in the Streets" made perfect sense. Looking like she was having a blast, Naima worked the stage to the African percussion-tinged remake, mixing her strong, crisp vocals with an energized African dance breakdown at song's end.
For once Tyler was speechless, though he did inexplicably call the performance "E to the Z o twiddly dee," blown away that she came up with the dance moves and the additional percussion. J.Lo said she got her first goose bumps of the night thanks to Naima's stage savvy.
The night's pimp spot belonged to lone rocker James Durbin, who sang Wonder's gritty urban anthem "Living for the City." Busting out of the gate with his clean falsetto voice, Durbin strutted all over the stage and made the song a bit happier than the original, but managed to give it enough of his rock grit (and high screeches) to make it his own.
Reduced to an "oh my Gawd"-ing valley girl, Jennifer was in awe of JD's dance moves and vocals, admitting he left her speechless. Though it opened rough, Randy said James hit his stride during his dance-breakdown middle and brought it home with the Lambert-esque scream at the end.
Thursday night's results show will feature performances from season-three "Idol" finalist and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and country duo Sugarland.

This will be the last installment of the series on Elvis scrapbooks. Here?s a look at several more Elvis scrapbooks I found on the internet.
Now, let?s take a look at the last six pages of the Elvis scrapbook we have been covering this month.
Page 16 lacks much interest. The top left photo caption says, ?Birth of sideburns during high school years.? Next to it is a photo of Elvis and director Norman Taurog on the set of one of the eight Elvis movies he directed. At the bottom there is a cropped photo of Elvis? head and a familiar shot form Aloha From Hawaii.
Page 17: The main thing of interest here is the one color photo. Most of photos of Elvis doing his lip snarl are from the earlier days. I can?t remember too many jumpsuit shots of his lip curl. It sure looks like the jumpsuit top is open all the way to the belt.
Page 18: This is the forth and possibly the most interesting photo of Priscilla in our scrapbook. She obviously spent some time with a top-notch photographer to produce these glamour shots. Perhaps it was part of the healing process after splitting with Elvis. Maybe something to bolster self-esteem? I have pictures of Priscilla covering fifty years, and I strongly believe she hit her peak of beauty at age 27 or so when these were taken.
Priscilla looked substantially different in her mid-thirties, but still a beauty, as shown on this magazine cover from the early 80s.
Page 19: This clipping came from the National Enquirer, so you know it has to be pretty strange. It appeared shortly after Elvis? death. The guy with the white hair is Dr. George Nichopoulos, Elvis? personal physician. Readers of this blog know I don?t think too much of Dr. Nick, and this story didn?t change my mind. He touched on drugs ever so briefly, and then blamed Elvis? problems on the Graceland cooks. Seriously! Here are some of Dr. Nick?s quotes:
?They [the cooks] mothered him to death. They couldn?t believe they were doing him harm by making a fuss of him.?
So, the cooks are what did Elvis in, not anything out of Dr. Nick?s bag. He did offer up an example to prove the cooks were the problem.
?He?d say fix up a hamburger and some fries, and they?d send up enough for six people.? ? He?d nibble on it until it was all gone.?
What a heinous plot -- death by hamburger. The National Enquirer writer contributed to the slant Dr. Nick was pushing by adding that Elvis had an insatiable craving for junk food. Believe it or not, the article got worse after that. Dr. Nick explained that food consumption was only part of the reason for Elvis? weight problem,
?Part of his obesity was diet, part was that enlarged colon he had. His colon was four or five inches in diameter ? and when there is several feet of it, it fills a lot of space.?
Too Much Information! This article filled a lot of space in the National Enquirer, but I?m not sure why an Elvis fan would put it in her scrapbook.
Page 20 has beautiful flowers from Elvis? funeral and another jumpsuit shot. The other shot is the interesting one. It shows sharp-dressed Vernon Presley briskly walking out of Probate Court in Memphis where he was ?given ironclad control over the huge estate, as executor and trustee.? Vernon surely mourned for his son, but he also seems to have adapted well to the spotlight. No boring suit and tie for this appearance. Very natty, Vernon.
Page 21: The scrapbook ends with this one large color photo, as kind of a tribute to Elvis. Notice how a puffy-looking Elvis still had that magic with the fans. He had it to the end.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez hit Twitter over the weekend and the world let out a collective, "Awwww!"
The Biebs, who recently took his act to Europe for his tour, seemed like he was missing his lady love and was not afraid to show it. On Sunday, he tweeted this simple message for Gomez: "I miss you."
Selena didn't let the post go unnoticed, as she very publicly responded to her beau's online note just hours later. "I miss all of y'all," she wrote.
When he wasn't busy flirting with his lady on Twitter, Bieber was busy tweeting a series of lyrical snippets from Drake songs after posting a note that read, "favorite drizzy lines." He also solicited fans' favorite lines from the Canadian MC's tracks.
Among the Drake tracks Bieber tweeted quotes from were "Successful," "Shut It Down," "The Resistance" and "Over."
"I want it all thats y I strive 4 it, Diss me and you'll never hear a reply 4 it," he wrote. "This lost boy got fly without Peter Pan and my delivery just got me buzzing like the pizza man ... You feel the hours pass until you find somethin' I feel like when she moves, the time doesn't ... That's word to the millions that they puttin' up I'm tryna be better than good enough ... I could teach you how to speak my language; [Rosetta] Stone I swear this life is like the sweetest thing I've ever known."
In addition, Bieber took time to thank his fans for all their support and also shared his latest plans for his look. After causing a stir recently when he cut his hair, Justin revealed that he intended to undergo another hair-related style change. "Im not shaving for a month so you all can see my mustache... im pumped," he shared.

'I want to stand on my own two feet,' Gaga says.

On Lady Gaga's 2009 smash The Fame Monster, the eccentric star hooked up with one of the fiercest ladies in the game when she and Beyoncé got their party on for the club anthem "Telephone." The singers then appeared together in an over-the-top music video in which they played a Quentin Tarantino-esque version of Thelma and Louise.
As the May 23 release date of Gaga's latest musical opus Born This Way draws near, the singer's little monsters are wondering if the star has secured any A-list talent for a collaboration on the new album.
In a recent radio chat, Gaga revealed that she's not planning on having anyone guest on Born This Way, according to Digital Spy. "I want to stand on my own two feet. I've already collaborated with my favorite female in the business," she teased. "We'll see how I'm feeling when I'm wrapping up the album."
With the anticipation for the record so high, fans are beginning to piece together the puzzle of BTW. Reported lyrics for her second single, "Judas," have already hit the Internet. On the track, Gaga waxes poetic about a lover whom she loves more than he loves her.
"Judas/ You never ever never/ Ever really ever loved me more, than I/ But Nemesis is watching over-high," she reportedly sings. "And this is your time/ Judas, lie on lie, write/ Tears drop 'cause I cry/ The echo truth killed you so you may finally die."
Lyrics for another BTW track, "Government Hooker," also reportedly found their way onto the Internet. A remix of the song debuted last week at the Thierry Mugler fashion show in Paris.
On the song, Gaga sings, "We had our night/ Our real nature/ No more time to decide/ Let it climb, let it ignite/ I can be cool/ I can be anything/ I'll be your everything/ Just touch me baby."
